Where can I host my blog and make money from advertisers?

Where can I host my blog, preferably for free and easy to use, where if it becomes popular I can get paid by advertisers? If I use a free web host can I get paid advertising? Specific websites would be helpful.

The trouble with the %26quot;free%26quot; blogging sites is that they%26#039;re ads will always interfere or conflict with yours.

It gets worse if the ads they%26#039;re serving are from the same provider. For example, if you%26#039;ve got a Google AdSense account, you cannot have ads associated with two different publisher accounts on the same page. Doing so could get your account banned.

Bottom line... the least expensive hosting (in terms of monthly cost) will come when you%26#039;re willing to pay for a full year in advance (typically, those that are less than $10). At the $10 a month level, you can pay one month at a time. Okay, here%26#039;s a step-by step. (But for an alternate idea, skip down to after step 7.

(1) Sign up for a web hosting plan that offers cPanel (a web based control panel) and Fantastico (an automated application installer). The one most popular with my clients is HostGator...

(2) Log into your account%26#039;s cPanel, click on Fantastico, select and install the Drupal content management system with a few mouse clicks -- Yeah, I know, it%26#039;s not the best-known in terms of bloggers -- but it%26#039;s the best when it comes to automating your add revenue, and it has some very powerful blogging features.

(3) Spend some time configuring the site, picking a theme, add a several blog entries so there%26#039;s some content. Encourage friends to sign up as registered users and add some comments. Make sure there is some CONTENT, in other words... then apply for Google AdSense, here...

(4) While you%26#039;re waiting for your AdSense account to get approved, install Drupal%26#039;s AdSense module onto your site. It%26#039;s available here...

http://drupal.org/project/adsense

(5) Configure the AdSense module to show the ads in strategic places, and configure the ad colors to be aesthetically pleasing to match the theme colors you chose previously (you%26#039;ll get the best click ratios if the ads seem to blend into the background of the page).

(6) Go to the Clean URLs page under the Site Configuration section of the Admin menu, and enable this feature (it%26#039;s off by default).

(7) Go to the Modules section of your site, under the Admin menu, and make sure that the Paths module is enabled (it isn%26#039;t, by default). This will allow you to specify the exact URL path that will be associated with a specific blog entry... and key words for your topic in the URL is the most important place that Google will look, when trying to decide which ads are most appropriate for any given page... and more on-target ads means more clicks, which means more money. There is also a module that will automatically construct the URL for you, from your blog entry%26#039;s title...

A final thought... if you don%26#039;t want to dive into the deep end of the pool of website ownership just yet, you%26#039;re welcome to give all this a try on a site I%26#039;m developing right NOW using the steps I%26#039;ve just outlined.

Every registered user gets their own blog, and I%26#039;m making use of another feature of Drupal%26#039;s AdSense module... revenue sharing. In other words, every time a page (blog entry or otherwise) is displayed, 80% of the time, the AdSense ID that is used for the ad will be that of the author of the page. The other 20% of the time it%26#039;s my ID, for being the site owner. Here%26#039;s the link...

blogger.com

But if you want to have your own web address I would register and host it with web hero.

Other Replys:Yahoo Small Business is a good one though not free.

However, a free host does not give the right impression if your intention is to make money and impress advertisers.

Other Replys:If you are serious about websites either for personal or your business, don%26#039;t go to free web hosting as they are usually not reliable and you may end up losing all your hard work. Free web hosts usually put advertisements on your websites and it could be annoying.

If you like to create websites (usually you will end up more than 1 website, I got more than 100 websites in about 6 months%26#039; time), go for multiple web hosting services where you could host all your websites in one account.

I would like to suggest following webhosting which I use, they are excellent.
