Ok my 4h club asked me to create a web site that can be seen by about 40 or more people(not changed by them, just seen) My mom takes computer courses ,but she knows nothing about websites. That is why the leaders made me do it cause my mom is good with computers. Any way, it needs to be free and show up on a google or other search engine. Any good ones to try? Bad ones? How do you make them? What is the difference between web hosting and a web site? Ever heard about freeweb.com? How much would it cost even if it wasn%26#039;t free?

There is no %26quot;trick%26quot; that will get your site listed better just because of WHERE it%26#039;s hosted. The bottom line is that you need well written content that has the proper key words in strategic places, especially in the URL and in titles. That content needs to be added to and updated regularly, which means using a content management system so people can log in and contribute, adding to main pages or perhaps a discussion forum.
The second thing that will increase your ranking is links on other websites pointing to yours. The higher the ranking of the site providing the link, the more it will help your own rank.
Ultimately, there is no way around having your own domain name. And it%26#039;s really not that expensive - just under $11 a year. The HOST that the domain points to can be free if it has to be. Here%26#039;s one I use that is not only free, but has no advertisements either...

Other Replys:If you are serious about websites either for personal or your business, don%26#039;t go to free web hosting as they are usually not reliable and you may end up losing all your hard work. Free web hosts usually put advertisements on your websites and it could be annoying.
If you like to create websites (usually you will end up more than 1 website, I got more than 100 websites in about 6 months%26#039; time), go for multiple web hosting services where you could host all your websites in one account.

But for it to appear in search engine I think you should submit it to search engines and add sitemap in the site.
