Freedom of speech on the Internet?

If you want to post information on big websites such as yahoo, you have to play by the rules.

Certain laws such as UK%26#039;s Racial and Religious Hatred Act 2006 and the Defamation Act 1996 will prevent content being held on web servers.

So my question:

How can you post your own ideas free of such laws and say what you want? If we have true free speech there must be a way of being able to host content that many agree with whatever the offence to other groups.

I have thought that foreign web hosting could be the way forward but I do not know how the law is applied for completely %26#039;free%26#039; speech.

Any ideas to allow such freedom would be welcome.

In order to understand why there is a big push to censor the internet (they%26#039;ll say its gambling and porn), you have to first understand what information is out there that the people in power would be afraid of.

Freedom of speech on the Internet?

There is, host your own website or find a willing host.

As long as a company owns the server, you are held to their rules.

%26quot;Freedom of Speech%26quot; is merely related to GOVERNMENT regulating speech in public...Yahoo can set whatever rules it wants since it is their forum.

Other Replys:Purchase and own your own space.

This is technically Yahoo%26#039;s space to manage as they see fit.

Other Replys:Own your own server in the US.

Other Replys:offshore hosts ... its only going to get worse i think .. govts want to control the internet and in the states the dept of homeland security has labeled the internet a %26quot;breeding ground for dissent and terrorism%26quot; ....

Other Replys:But this is different. You are going through a BUSINESS(Yahoo). Yahoo has to protect itself against liability claims. You%26#039;re using their company products in order to convey your message. You have to play by their rules. Otherwise, they can be sued.

Other Replys:Because Yahoo owns the sight they can make whatever rules they want.....Its like taking your kids to the babysitter....you might allow your kids to, lets say, eat candy all day...the sitter might not....and all you can do if you don%26#039;t like that is find a different sitter.....Or if someone comes into your house you expect them to follow your rules...you might ask people to take their shoes off at the door, even if in their house they don%26#039;t....you house your rules....just like thier site, thier rules....just the way it works...
