I want to build a successful blog with advertising links. Is it better to pay for web hosting so that the name of the blog sounds more professional? I want to put links on there and am concerned perhaps that one can%26#039;t make money with a free blogging host...do you know of any blogs that are successful that host on these free sites? Any feedback greatly appreciated.
Building a Successful Blog...Better to Pay for Domain Name?
you have to pay web hosting and domain name seperatly, some do combine them and give you %26quot;Free%26quot; domain, but they usually charge you higher for hosting. yes its more professional to use domain name because people dont have to keep clicking on dots and stuff, and think that your blog belongs to teh free hosting site.
Building a Successful Blog...Better to Pay for Domain Name?
1) Webhosting .. with a good uptime ...
2) Advertising links from good websites .. like Yahoo mail .. hotmail ... google mail ...
3) Enlisting in Search Engines ...
4) A good design ...
5) And a good blog ...

Let%26#039;s say that you wanted to buy green t-shirts. Would you buy them from a site called %26quot;greent-shirts.com%26quot; or %26quot;greent-shirts.blogger.com/index/1-05-08...
Keeping it short and sweet is the key to having people remember your site, be it a blog or an online store.
There are many web hosts out there that sell some pretty cheap packages for what you%26#039;re looking for. I bought a domain name for $2.99. You can probably purchase the hosting for about $6 a month. If you%26#039;re serious about making a successful blog, you%26#039;ll spend the money.
Besides... if you%26#039;re collecting ad revenue, that will cover your costs.

If you don%26#039;t want to pay,
http://www.sampleaday.com is having a free domain name giveaway. To have a chance to win all you have to do is put a link on your page.

Other Replys:As much as I hate to admit it, it is true that a domain and hosting will make your site *seem* more professional. However, there are ways around paying out the wazoo for these sorts of things.
I have a domain that I bought from Yahoo!. It%26#039;s 10 bucks a year...you can find cheaper ones, but I just like Yahoo!. I host my blog at Blogger which is absolutely free. I Googled how to set up my domain so that it would redirect to my blogspot.
I have ads and things on my site, and I pretty much just do whatever I want with it. I%26#039;m pretty happy with the set up. The thing with free sites is that you have to abide by their TOS. This is not a problem for me because I am not excessively profane, nor do I blog about adult related subjects, etc.
So...you can pretty much tweak the virtual world to serve your needs at a cost that will mean all profit for you if you play your cards right. I recommend a domain name redirected to a free blog.
