So I know how everything will work with this and all, but instead of typing in my ip address I want to type in blabla.org. I will be going through http://www.namecheap.com . I seem to be confused. Which service is it? When I get to name cheap I get confused. All I need is something that when I type blabla.org it will go to my ip address, I can go through other web sites as well. I want it to look like so and so.org:port number. I don%26#039;t need any web hosting or e mail. Thanks for the help.

name cheap.com is web hosting, remote desktop connection does not do that it only connects you to other peoples computer not website. FTP is used for websites.

very simple.

You need DDNS.

you can get an account from zoneedit.com. it is free.

sign up for an account, add your domain then back to your domain provider (where you signed for your domain), update the DNS servers and then download the client to your computer. there are few instuctions on how to make the client run as a service on your computer. running as a service means that the client will start when the computer starts even if you did not login.

The client monitors your IP and reports it to zoneedit.com when it changes.

i have been using it for a while and had no issues. the client takes about 5 minutes to update the ip address once a change is reported.

i have been using this fr a while and very happy with it.

Note: once you sign up for a domain name it wil take 72 hours to get it working.

Other Replys:Try looking at dyndns.com also. It works the same as the other one listed above. Don%26#039;t forget if you%26#039;re hiding multiple machines behind a router, then to forward the ports you are using to the appropriate machines, ex RDP, HTTP, etc.
